Message From The Directors
The Belmont Music Department offers a holistic musical experience to its students, with Yearlong performance ensembles including Concert Band, Contemporary Vocal Music, Jazz Band, Vocal Jazz, Drum Line, Marching Band and R & B Band, along with our Semester Courses of Digital Music Composition and Introductory Guitar and Piano. Members of our program have additional opportunities to grow and learn through student-led small ensembles, clinics, festival participation and many varied performance situations, as well as musical tours. Many of our students have attended summer music camps or taken private lessons with scholarship money accessed through the music department.
In choosing a music course as an elective here at Belmont, you are joining a team where your input is valued and the results of your hard work are shared and multiplied by the whole ensemble. Whether or not you become a musician as an adult, you will leave this program knowing the value of commitment, concentration, and self-discipline; life skills that will help you to succeed in whatever career you pursue. The administration and counselling teams recognize this and will assist you if you encounter and problems with scheduling/course selection. We thank you for your interest in the Music Program at Belmont Secondary, and we look forward to working with you in the future!
