How to be a Successful Musician - ONLINE!

As we venture into our Online Belmont Music Department (OBMD!), the three directors want to give you some assistance, help, guidelines, etc. on how to be successful.  Each week, you will be expected/asked to show the directors evidence of your progress in music in your personal portfolio (this is a SAMPLE).

Each week, we are asking you all to maintain your musicianship by practicing/performing AND working on your skill building (theory, ear training, listening, etc.)  At the end of each week, you will show on your portfolio the evidence of what you did (screenshot, recording, etc.) The expectation is that you will spend 2 hours on music each week, however, we are looking for COMPLETION of your musical enrichment.  You will not be able to make up for lost time one week versus another, so please be sure that your personal portfolio is filled out by FRIDAY of each week.

**Please note: Some of these platforms will request information in order to make accounts or install apps. We encourage you to investigate the Terms and Conditions of Use and Service if you are so inclined, and to convey any concerns you may have.

Below is the breakdown of the websites/resources that we are using (see the links below).  If you have your own music that you are working on, or your own websites/apps that you are using, please continue to do so.  But show us the evidence on a weekly basis!

The BMD Philosophy

"The Belmont Music Program fosters an inclusive community of musicians.  In all performance ensembles, students learn collaboration, responsibility, and dedication.  It is a comfortable environment where students feel safe to take risks and try new things.  The directors inspire and promote confidence, creativity, and attention to detail.  The variety of music classes provide lifelong learning and useful skills for the future.  The Belmont Music Department is a program that is based on mutual respect where students experience accomplishment and community."
