Performance/Practice

Each OBMD member is asked to maintain their performance/practice on their instrument(s) while we the schools are closed.  In order to do so, we are employing the following resources to help you along!
SmartMusic
This is currently a FREE site for all students to use.  It has a collection of solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble music for all instruments and voices.  This website only works on a computer, laptop, tablet, or iPad (downloadable app).

DO NOT use it on your phone, it won’t work!

To start things off, watch this video on how to set-up an account https://soapbox.wistia.com/videos/wkNPo5SeDc

Website : www.smartmusic.com

When you set-up an account, you’ll need the class code(s).
  • Instrumental Classes : U3PNN-H7G4U
  • Vocal Classes : RLCPE-EFUHC

*if you are both an instrumentalist AND a vocalist, please enroll in both.  During this time, please make your WIND/PERCUSSION instrument priority, and vocals secondary.

There is NO NEED to record yourself on Smartmusic as part of your weekly portfolio evidence.  However, please indicate which pieces you played, etc. If you choose to share a recording, you may record it on Smartmusic, download it, upload to your drive, and SHARE the link in your portfolio.

Once you get started, check out these other How-to videos.

How to Play-along on Smartmusic - https://soapbox.wistia.com/videos/ZCP2mOxk7r
A little bit more about playing along - https://soapbox.wistia.com/videos/bbuobQilIa

As stated above, if you are working on your own music, please continue working on that!  We want you all to continue playing while we’re stuck at home.

BMD Weekly Sharing Circle

Each Friday from 10am-1130am, we will host a BMD Sharing Circle.  This is a great opportunity to show off what you have been working on OR just to come and listen and hangout with your fellow OBMDers!  Please see the log in information below.

Please join the BMD Weekly Sharing Circle from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

The BMD Philosophy

"The Belmont Music Program fosters an inclusive community of musicians.  In all performance ensembles, students learn collaboration, responsibility, and dedication.  It is a comfortable environment where students feel safe to take risks and try new things.  The directors inspire and promote confidence, creativity, and attention to detail.  The variety of music classes provide lifelong learning and useful skills for the future.  The Belmont Music Department is a program that is based on mutual respect where students experience accomplishment and community."
